Red, more of it…

My cousin’s family and I went out to dinner last night. We ate at a Haitian place near where I used to live. The food was good and we all got stuffed. If you haven’t tasted caribbean style cooking from the different islands, you must. We are so fortunate in that way here in Miami, top of the caribbean as it is.

My friend Edouard has a few flowering plants in his garden right now. This bromiliad is really awesome.

  1. That flower or something very like it grows here too, but we don’t have the chance to eat Caribbean food, at least not locally, though I wouldn’t be surprised if you could find it somewhere in Sydney. It’s one of the major drawback about being on the wrong side of the world!

  2. Haitian’s put a touch of cloves in their rice and beans; it gives a very fragrant yet, tangy taste. If you try it, be careful to only put about three to four cloves in, otherwise, you’ll overdo it. There was a rather large Chinese population in Cuba too, so we have Chinese-Cuban food. Interesting combination but, very good. Other Asian foods we don’t have a large selection of, other than sushi. Even though I don’t eat out that much it is still a great experience when I do. 🙂
