Snagging images from Flickr is enticing but, I would not do it without asking permission. Having major players snag images is worse than wrong. Most Flickr users are not professionals so, the major users of images attempt to save money by thinking people won’t recognize their images when republished on a web site or in print. That is stupid because Flickr is too widely used for people to not recognize the criminality of image infringement. Make sure you have your images set to the correct copyright settings if you think this might be a problem. I have also been adding a visible watermark but, if somebody wanted to use an image and, not use it for economic gain, I would allow it provided the request is asked.

“Television networks and sports leagues are pretty vigilant about protecting their content, and have gotten fairly nasty about it lately, especially in relation to the Internet. That righteous indignation doesn’t always go both ways, though, as these same entities can be lax when it comes to use of other people’s content.”
