Whatever has happened this month but, my postings have been less than I thought until I looked today. My other blogs have only missed Christmas day when I was out of town, although I had my laptop. There just hasn’t been as much personal stuff going on I guess. I do need to tighten up a few things next week, like sending art to their owners.
Last night Paul and I again talked about what my plans are for Miami Art Exchange in 2008. They are, hopefully, significant. The plan is to be even more of an important part of this art community and, beyond. Getting hacked over a year ago slowed much of my planning at the time but, in the meantime we (mostly Paul) built and test in CakePHP, Drupal, a couple other custom frameworks. In all honesty, Paul has made me learn by doing, starting from scratch in building a web site much more comprehensive than I normally do for my clients. I made several handmade site maps, went though a mapping of menus, building of forms, figuring out site permission levels, levels of membership, we even briefly added a shopping cart.
I’ve installed another copy of the site and am migrating data into it so that it will be without the hacks from which I’ve been having problems for so long. It will be something different than what it has been.
The most interesting thing Paul said to me this morning was about “unlocking me from him” so that I don’t have to continually wait for his assistance, which these days is less and less. This guy is really smart in how he’s operating his business. He’s got clients on yearly recurring contracts and his monthly income is a real nice sum. Anyway, “unlocking” me is a good thing. Independence is good.
