I meant to post something earlier but, time just got away from me. After the weekend things need to get back to normal. Our guest from out of town has returned home. Our experience was a good one. I didn’t network as much nor as hard as Paul did. I realized that by the stack of business cards on his desk. He remembers this person and that person and what they do, what they need and, how he can potentially find a niche to fill. I usually think Paul isn’t aggressive with people but, that’s because he’s a real people person and makes friends easily. On the other hand, our guest (whose name I was asked not to reveal) took a more back seat approach and was definitely not that into all meeting and greeting. It’s an interesting approach to business when a person can afford to pick and choose which client they want to work with. In this case, even a $50K job doing little work isn’t as attractive as something very difficult but making $250K. The challenge is attractive. The opportunity to work in areas that can expand the product is more attractive than just the opportunity to make money. And, every person we talked to was assessed for that potential including, their perceived authenticity, tone of voice, mannerism, and how well they could talk about what they were doing. What a weekend it was.
