I guess with Flickr being a site where it is easy to just “use” people’s photos fairly easily without asking, with the proof of two recent examples having been discovered, I never used the “creative commons” licensing on my images. For one thing, if a local person wants to use any image I’m taken they could easily email or phone me about the use which I always request a credit line. In an incident from a couple years ago a local business “used” the entire web pages from a friend’s blog as content for his paper publication. That was nasty.

Anyway, I got a phone call late this afternoon from Artforum (the art publication) requesting me licensing an image or two for an article to come out in their April 2008 issue. That’s soon! They needed the image today. I was laughing and kidding around when I asked them if they could allow me to travel over two counties to get them. They probably didn’t think it was too funny but, they asked anyway, “So, are the images available?” I sent them off. So, we’ll see what happens and, if they got the images.
